420D
The 420D is an improved version of the former 416C. The 420D is for the performance market segment. The 420D is part of the 4.27 m (14 ft) dig class.

TRANSMISSION     Autoshift transmission is optional. The transmission upshifts and downshifts automatically.    
EXTERIOR     New 420D nomenclature with a black hood decal displaying CAT    430D
The new 430D replaces the former 426C or the 436C. The 430D has all the same features of the 420D. The 430D has a 94 HP engine. The 430D is in the 4.572 m (15 ft) dig class.Servicing the Machine

Service Tips and Information    
Use ET to determine any faults with the system. Locate the connector for the Electronic Technician behind the fuse panel on the right hand console. The connector is for troubleshooting the pilot loader controls and the autoshift transmission.    
Taps for Scheduled Oil Sampling will be available during 2001. The taps will be located under the hood.    
A new pump signal network provides enhanced hydraulic performance. The signal will now go to the loader valve then to the backhoe valve.    
Pilot pressure can be measured at the stabilizer valve which is now mounted on the right hand rear side of frame.    
The hydraulic oil can now be drained at the pump using the new ecology drain at pump inlet. The ecology drain has a shutoff valve and hose to provide an easy method draining of the hydraulic oil.    
D-series rear buckets and couplers will be painted BLACK for easy identification.    
Use Bucket Stops if C/B/A series buckets are put on D-series backhoes. The bucket will hit the stick.    All parts books, Operational and Maintenance Manuals, and service manual modules will be announced in PREVIEW.Couplers
