8T-0853     Pressure Gauge     1    This test will determine the following conditions:
Oil pressure to the transmission lubrication is good.
Oil pressure to the transmission lubrication is good during retarder operation.
The retarder hydraulic control valve works correctly.
The retarder works correctly.Procedure

Left Rear of the Scraper Transmission (A) Pressure tap for transmission lubrication oil
At pressure tap (A), remove the tube assembly from the port for the pressure tap.
At pressure tap (A), install a nipple assembly. After you have installed the nipple assembly, connect a hose group to the nipple assembly.
Connect a 8T-0853 Pressure Gauge to the hose.
While the parking brakes are engaged, start the scraper engine and operate the engine at LOW IDLE rpm. The scraper transmission should be in the NEUTRAL position. The pressure on the gauge should read a minimum of 5.0 kPa (0.73 psi).
Operate the scraper engine at HIGH IDLE rpm with the scraper transmission in the NEUTRAL position. The pressure on the gauge should be between 100 to 205 kPa (15 to 30 psi). Make sure that the retarder control lever is in the RELEASED position.
While the engine is still operating at HIGH IDLE rpm, FULLY ACTIVATE the retarder by pulling the lever all the way toward you. The pressure on the gauge should be between +0 − 35 kPa (+0 −5 psi) of the pressure that was measured in Step 5. Make sure that the air pressure is correct.
Move the control lever back to the RELEASED position by pushing the lever away from you. The pressure on the gauge should be identical to the pressure in Step 5.
When the test is complete, stop the scraper engine and remove the test equipment. Install the tube assembly back into the port for the pressure tap. Results
When the retarder is not activated and the oil pressure is too low, perform the Testing and Adjusting, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve Pressure - Test".
When the retarder is activated and the oil pressure decreases too much, the retarder has too much oil leakage.
If the oil pressure in Step 7 is not identical to the oil pressure in Step 5, the retarder control valve is open or damaged.
