Which Generate This Code:The FMI 13 is associated with the PWM thumb wheel on the left joystick or the PWM thumb wheel on the right joystick. The FMI 13 means that the ECM has determined that the signal of the PWM thumb wheel is not within expected limits. Switch 1 and switch 4 can be interchanged. Therefore, switch 1 can be set up as the PWM sensor or switch 1 can be configured as a ON/OFF switch. If switch 1 is configured as a ON/OFF switch to ground then you will not receive this diagnostic code. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed.
The PWM thumb wheel needs to be calibrated.
The PWM thumb wheel needs to be adjusted.
The ECM has been flashed with new software.
The PWM thumb wheel has failed.
The ECM has failed.Note: Other diagnostic codes for the switches on the joystick may occur if the machine configuration is not correct for the installed joysticks. Ensure that the machine configuration is correct.Note: Ensure that you have repaired any condition that would cause other active diagnostic codes that are related to the thumb wheel. For example, the CID 1131 FMI 03 or FMI 04 are not active when the CID 1131 FMI 13 is active. If the other diagnostic codes are active, troubleshoot those codes first. Then perform this procedure.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 1131 FMI 13 is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CALIBRATION
Perform the necessary adjustment and calibration procedures. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting section of the Service Manual for these procedures.
Observe the status of the CID 1131 FMI 13.Expected Result:The CID 1131 FMI 13 is not active. Results:
OK - The CID 1131 FMI 13 is not active. The calibration corrected the condition that caused the CID 1131 FMI 13. Resume normal operation. Stop.
NOT OK - The CID 1131 FMI 13 is still active.Repair: The diagnostic code is still active. Verify that the correct software has been flashed into the ECM, or that the correct ECM is installed on the machine. Then repeat the calibration. If the diagnostic code is still active and the cause of the diagnostic code is not found replace the ECM. It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Verify that the thumb wheel and associated circuits are correct before you replace the ECM. Stop.
