At the rear compartment, disconnect and remove the 1500 amp rated BMCT current sensor from the mount and the bus bar. Mark the current sensor in a way that will allow the sensor to be identified as the original BMCT current sensor. A small section of the DC bus bar that passes through the current sensor will have to be disconnected in order to remove the current sensor.
Mount the unmarked current sensor in the location where the BMCT current is normally located. Install the DC bus bar section that was removed back in the original position. Tighten the bus bar bolts to the proper torque. Connect the harness connector securely on the current sensor.
At the front side compartment, mount the marked current sensor in the location where the CMCT current is normally located. Install the DC bus bar section that was removed back in the original position. Tighten the bus bar bolts to the proper torque. Connect the harness connector securely on the current sensor.
Ensure that all of the connectors are connected and the current sensors are properly installed.
Install the compartment cover (3) and the compartment cover (4) on the high voltage compartments that contain the CMCT and the BMCT current sensors. The covers for all of the high voltage compartments must be installed before the Engine can be started in the next test step.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Start the Engine.
Safely operate the machine in order to determine if the MID 169, CID 3669 FMI 03 diagnostic code is active. Expected Result:The MID 169, CID 3669 FMI 03 diagnostic code is no longer active. A MID 169, CID 3045 FMI 03 for the CMCT Grid 1 current sensor has been activated.Results:
YES - A MID 169, CID 3045 FMI 03 for the CMCT current sensor has been activated.Repair: The original marked BMCT current sensor has failed. The marked current sensor has caused an active diagnostic code when connected to the two separate circuits.Turn the key start switch and the battery disconnect to the OFF position. Perform the "Power Train Electrical System Service Shutdown" procedure in order to verify that the voltage in the power train system has been discharged.After verifying that the voltage in the cabinet has been discharged, replace the marked current sensor.After replacing the marked current sensor, verify that the all bus bar sections that were removed for the sensor replacement are properly connected and verify that all harness connectors are securely connected.STOP
NO - The MID 169, CID 3669 FMI 03 diagnostic code is still active. Switching the current sensors did not affect the status of the active diagnostic code. The marked current sensor is not causing the problem.Repair: Turn the key start switch and the battery disconnect to the OFF position. Proceed to the Test Step 5.Test Step 5. Inspect the harness wiring connectors that are disconnected.
