Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Replace the fuel filter before the scheduled interval if any of the following occur:
The filter screen is more than half obstructed.
Engine performance is poor.
Open the engine access door on right side of machine. The screen is located on the right side of the engine block.

Remove bolt holding p-clip that secures fuel screen in place.
Lift fuel screen with hoses attached out of the machine.
Pull hoses from screen by using quick disconnect fittings.
Properly dispose of fuel screen.
Push new fuel screen on to hoses .
Place fuel screen back into p-clip and relocate assembly into machine.
Tighten p-clip bolt to secure fuel screen into place.
Once you key on, the fuel system will prime automatically via the electric fuel pump.
Start the engine.
Check for leaks.
Close the engine access door.
