Install two bearing cups (21) to planet gear (19). Ensure that bearing cups (21) are fully seated.

Install bearing cone (20) to planet gear (19). Install planet gear (19) to the inner planetary carrier.
Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the remaining planet gears.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable hydraulic press to install four shafts (18) to inner planetary carrier (13).Note: The planet gears must be rotated while the shafts are being pressed in place.

Use Tool (C) to measure the gap that exists between the end of shaft (18) and inner planetary carrier (13), as shown.
Select shims that are equal to the dimension that was measured in Step 8 plus 0.00 - 0.05 mm (0.00 - 0.002 inch).

Install the shims and four plates (17).
Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of eight bolts (16). Install bolts (16) to inner planetary carrier (13). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).

Install the four dowels in the inner carrier assembly. Apply Tooling (F) to thrust washer (15). Install thrust washer (15) in the inner carrier assembly.

Use two people to install sun gear (14) to inner carrier assembly (13). The weight of sun gear (14) is 41 kg (90 lb).Note: The components of the planetary gears are matched components and the components should not be mixed.

Install lock ring (12) to planetary gear (6).

Install spacer (11) to planetary gear (6).

Install two bearing cups (8) to planetary gear (6). Ensure that bearing cups (8) are fully seated.
Install bearing cone (9) and spacer (10) to planetary gear (6).

Install bearing cone (7) to planetary gear (6). Install planetary gear (6) to the planetary carrier.
Repeat Steps 14 through 18 for the remaining planetary gears.

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable hydraulic press to install four planetary shafts (5) to planetary carrier (1).Note: The planetary gears must be rotated while the planetary shafts are being pressed in place.

Use Tool (C) to measure the gap that exists between the end of planetary shaft (5) and planetary carrier (1), as shown.
Select shims that are equal to the dimension that was measured in Step 21 plus 0.00 - 0.05 mm (0.00 - 0.002 inch).

Install the shims and four plates (4).
Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of eight bolts (3). Install bolts (3) to planetary carrier (1). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 255 15 N m (190 11 lb ft).
Use Tool (A) (not shown) to install 12 studs (2) to planetary carrier (1). Tighten studs (2) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).End By:
