Sealing Techniques
The following procedure applies to both the former and new covers.
To ensure that the flywheel is sealed correctly, RTV sealant must be used to seal all areas that may allow dust to enter the cover. Before applying RTV sealant, clean all surfaces with 8T9011 or 4C4079 Solvent.
Recommended Sealants: 1. 3S6252 Standard Silicone2. 8T9013 Red Silicone3. 8T9022 Silicone4. 8T9014 Clear Silicone
3W5064 Input Shaft Group. Apply sealant at the arrows.
View B-B. Apply sealant at the arrows.Apply sealant to all joint gaps along the base of the engine block and 3W2757 Plate (2). Also apply the sealant in a continuous bead along the flange centerline and on a radius around the bolt holes on cover (1) that seats against the rear face of the block and plate (2).
It is recommended to let the sealant cure overnight before machine use.
