At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Inspect the pin bores in the stick, the boom, and the stick cylinder prior to the installation of the stick.
Position the boom on tooling (A). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR2808, "Stick - Remove".
Attach suitable lifting devices to the stick. A standard stick weighs 26 kg (57 lb). A long stick weighs 30 kg (67 lb).

Apply a thin coat of 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease on pin (10) .
Lift the stick into position and install pin (10) .
Secure pin (10) to the boom with bolt (9) and washer.

Connect hose assembly (7) to the support plate. Route hose assembly (6) through the support plate.

Connect hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the support plate. Route hose assembly (5) through the support plate.

Apply a thin coat of 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease on pin (2).
Install the pin (2) through the bore of the stick cylinder's rod.
Install the bolt (1) and the washer in order to secure the pin (2) to the stick.,,, End By:
Install the bucket cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2808, "Bucket Cylinder - Install".
Install the bucket control linkage. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2808, "Bucket Linkage - Install".
Install the bucket. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2808, "Bucket - Install".
