Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank. The tank is located on the front RH inner frame. The hydraulic tank contains approximately 69 L (18 US gal) of oil.

Disconnect harness assembly (1). Remove bolts (2) and guard (3) .

Remove clip (7) from bracket (6) .
Remove bolts (5). Disconnect drive shaft (4) from the pump.Note: Leave the drive shaft connected to the engine.

Disconnect hose assemblies (8) .

Attach Tooling (A) to mounting bracket (6).

Remove top cover (9) that surrounds the junction block. The cover is secured by rubber latches (10) .

Remove bolts (11). Remove bottom guard (12) from the truck.

Wrap a chain around makeup valve (13). Attach Tooling (B) to the chain.

Attach Tooling (B) to Tooling (A). Apply slight upward tension. The weight of the pump and bracket as a unit is approximately 113 kg (250 lb).

Remove bolts (14) for mounting bracket (6).

Lift fan drive pump (15) in order to allow sufficient clearance for frame rail (16) .

Remove fan drive pump (15) from the truck. Lower pump and bracket (6) to the ground.

Remove yoke (18) from drive shaft (19) .
Remove bolts (20) in order to separate the bracket from the fan drive pump. The approximate weight of the mounting bracket is approximately 32 kg (70 lb).
