Functional Check of Working Range Limiting System
* After the engine is started, always check the working range limiting system for proper function and make sure that the system is turned to the ON position. If any error is found in the system, immediately place the machine in the servicing position, and stop the engine. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for inspection and repair.* When conducting the functional check, operate the front attachment slowly with extra care.* Rapid operation of the front attachment may shift the automatic stop position of the system. Do not operate the front attachment rapidly. Further, the automatic stop position may be overrun depending on the mechanical accuracy of the system. Do not be too reliant on the system. Abstain from risky work.* In cold weather, warm up the engine and the hydraulic system sufficiently before using the system. Failure to do may shift the automatic stop position of the working range limiting system.
Check Procedure
1. Make sure that the backup switch is in the OFF position. 2. Move the lever for the hydraulic lockout control to the UNLOCKED position. 3. Put the display mode switch in the "Radius" position. 4. First check the boom for proper operation. Place the front attachment in the longitudinal direction to the undercarriage, and fold it down. Then; (1) Slowly raise the boom to its highest position with extra care. (2) Slowly operate the boom and upper stick with extra care. Set the radius indication on the monitor panel to the position approximately 1.2 m to the limit range and the height indication to the position approximately 7 m. (3) Slowly lower the boom with extra care. When the radius indication on the monitor panel comes to 1 m to the limit working range, the limit range indicator light blinks and the alarm sounds intermittently (peep-peep-peep). At the same time, the boom motion is decelerated.Continue to lower the boom until the limit range indicator light comes on and the alarm sounds continuously (peep). This brings an automatic stop.
Control is made within the limit working range of installed hydraulic shear indicator light. Check the limit working range and slowly operate the front attachment. Malfunction of the system may cause tip over of the machine.
5. After the front attachment is stopped, slowly raise the boom with extra care to release the automatic stop function. 6. Slowly operate the boom and the upper stick with extra care to achieve a position approximately 1.5 m to the limit working range and a height of approximately 3.5 m. 7. Next, check the lower stick for proper operation. From the position mentioned in Step 6, slowly perform LOWER STICK OUT operation with extra care. When the radius indication on the monitor panel comes to the point 1 m to the limit working range, the limit range indicator light blinks, and the alarm sounds intermittently (peep-peep-peep). At the same time, the lower stick motion is decelerated.Slowly perform further LOWER STICK OUT operation with extra care. The limit range indicator
