Oil groove depth of the brake discsThe oil groove depth is the most critical dimension. If the depth of the oil grooves on the brake disc is too shallow, oil flow will be inadequate. This can cause excessive wear and abrasion.An indicator pin is located on each side of the front and rear axle center housings. The service brake disc wears and this will increase the piston travel in order to engage the brake pack. This increased distance causes the notch on the indicator pin to protrude past the sleeve end.

Push indicator pin (5) against piston (4). Push sleeve (7) into the fitting body until sleeve (7) is flush with the end of the indicator pin (5) .The service brake should be applied in order to check for brake wear. Push indicator pin (5) against piston (4). The material of the brake is past service life if the notch of the indicator (8) protrudes past the sleeve (7) .Note: When new brake discs are installed, the brake wear indicator must be readjusted.ReferenceFor additional information about brake wear indicator adjustment, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Service Brake Wear Indicator - Check" for the machine that is being serviced.
