PROBLEM:
During assembly of rubber components of the engine air induction system, use of the correct lubricant is critical to joint integrity. Never use oil, grease, or petroleum jelly. Improper assembly lubricants may allow joints to move after assembly and/or during service, which may jeopardize joint integrity. A leak-free air induction system is an important factor in realizing maximum engine life.
SOLUTION:
Use the 207-1601 P-80 Lubricant or 207-1600 P-80 Lubricant (EAME only) for assembly of rubber air induction system components. This assembly lubricant provides the following features:
Specifically formulated liquid that lubricates rubber so it is easy to install, remove or otherwise manipulate.
Provides temporary lubrication. Once assembly of rubber is complete, emulsion rubber lubricant disappears and surfaces return to original condition.
Contains no silicones or other persistent ingredients.
Lubricated parts will not deteriorate from use of this product; i.e. will not crumble, tear or loose elasticity.
Apply 207-1601 P-80 Lubricant or 207-1600 P-80 Lubricant (EAME only) immediately before the assembly operation. Apply lubricant to the rubber component of the assembly but may also be applied to the metal component. Position the parts quickly and complete the assembly, as the lubricant will evaporate rapidly. Re-application of lubricant is acceptable.
