Personal injury or death could result when towing a disabled machine incorrectly.Block the machine to prevent movement before releasing the brakes. The machine can roll free if it is not blocked.Follow the recommendations below, to properly perform the towing procedure.
Note: Retrieve only one disabled towed scraper at a time.These towing instructions are for moving a stuck or disabled towed scraper for a short distance at low speed. Move the towed scraper at a speed of 2 km/h (1.2 mph) or less to a convenient location for repair. These instructions are only for emergencies. Always haul the towed scraper if long distance moving is required.For retrieval of the towing machine and the towed scrapers in the forward direction, use the front retrieval points on the towing machine. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual of the towing machine for the attachment location and safe use information.For retrieval of the towing machine and the towed scrapers in the rearward direction, the towing machine must be detached and each towed scraper must be separated if being used in tandem. Use both retrieval points on the rear of the towed scraper shown in illustration 1.A shield should be provided on both the machine pulling and the operating station of the machine being retrieved to protect the operator if a tow line or tow bar breaks. This will protect the operator if the tow line breaks or the tow bar breaks.Before you tow the towed scraper, make sure that the tow line or the tow bar is in good condition. Make sure that the tow line or the tow bar has enough strength for the conditions that are involved. The strength of the tow line or of the tow bar should be at least 150 percent of the gross weight of the towing machine. This pertains to a disabled towed scraper that is stuck in the mud and to towing a disabled towed scraper on a grade.
