Tightening Procedure for the Bucket Cylinder Head Bolts
Before working on the machine, place it in the following configuration to relieve stress on the cylinder. Place so that the boom is down, the stick is out, and the bucket is at mid stroke.Note: If a bolt is found to be loose or backed out, all new bolts will need to be used. If a bolt is being tightened because the cylinder was resealed, then the original bolt can be used if the bolt is inspected and found not to have any defects.

Tightening sequence
Insert all the bolts and tighten to 150 50 N m (111 37 lb ft) in a star sequence as shown in Illustration 1.Note: Do not use any lubricant on the bolts.

Clockwise direction
Now tighten all the bolts to 550 50 N m (406 37 lb ft) in a clockwise direction as shown in Illustration 2.
Go through all the tighten bolts for a second time and verify that all the bolts remained at 550 50 N m (406 37 lb ft) in a clockwise direction as shown in Illustration 2.

Before final tightening
Mark the bolt, socket, and cylinder head as shown in Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.Note: Using the edges of the bolt head will give you 60 5 degrees which is the angle of extra turn needed to achieve final tightening. Refer to Illustration 4.

After final tightening
Insert the socket and apply final torque by turning until the line on the socket (A) lines up with mark (B). Refer to Illustration 5. Tighten the bolts in a clockwise direction as shown in Illustration 2.
