Your engine may not have the same or all of the gauges as shown in the illustrations. The illustrations shown are of typical gauges.Gauges provide a "look" inside the engine. Be sure they are in good working order. You can determine what is "normal" operating range by observing the gauges over a period of time. The cause of any sudden change or significant change in the readings should be determined and corrected.Noticeable changes in gauge readings are indicative of potential gauge or engine problems. The oil pressure should be between 240 and 480 kPa (35 and 70 psi) when the engine is running at rated engine speed, with SAE 10W30 oil, at operating temperature. A lower pressure is normal at low idling speed. If no pressure is indicated, stop the engine. The gauge is located at the lower right section of the instrument cluster. Engine Coolant Temperature- Indicates engine coolant temperature. It should normally indicate between 71 and 96°C (160 and 205°F). Somewhat higher temperatures may occur under certain conditions. Maximum allowable temperature is 99°C (210°F) with the cooling system pressurized. This gauge is located in the lower right corner of the instrument cluster. Voltmeter - When the engine is operating, this gauge indicates the charging system voltage. If the gauge pointer reads in either red band portion of the gauge scale with the engine running, cause of the failure should be determined and corrected. The voltmeter gauge is located in the lower left section of the instrument cluster. Tachometer- The tachometer hand indicates the speed of the engine in revolutions per minute (rpm). The indicated number times 100 gives the engine speed. The tachometer is located in the upper right corner of the instrument cluster. Fuel Level- Indicates fuel level in the fuel tank. Electrically operated, it registers only when the ignition engine control switch is in the "RUN" position. This gauge is located in the upper right corner of the instrument cluster when there is no tachometer, or in the lower left corner of the cluster if a tachometer is installed. Service Hour Meter (If Equipped) - An optional hourmeter indicates the total number of clock hours the engine has operated. The hourmeter is located below the instrumental panel to the left of the steering column.
