Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses, and tubes to prevent fluid loss and to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Connect the steering frame lock link. See the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.2. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to the topic "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this module. 3. Remove one bolt and two washers (3).4. Disconnect and plug three hose assemblies (4).5. Disconnect electrical connector (2).6. Remove two bolts and washers (1).7. Remove boot (5). The following steps are for the installation of the parking brake valve.8. Ensure that all parts of the parking brake valve are thoroughly clean prior to installation. Check the condition of all O-ring seals used in the hose assemblies. If any of the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Lubricate seals with the lubricant being sealed.9. Install the parking brake valve in the reverse order of removal.10. Check the right hydraulic tank to see that the hydraulic oil is at the correct level. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct fluid and filling procedure.11. Separate the steering frame lock link. Refer to the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.
