Adjustment Procedure for the Wheel Bearings

Components of the Front Axle
(1) Bolt
(2) Hub cap
(3) Nut
(4) Cotter pin
Raise the front wheels slightly off the ground.
Install sufficient blocking under the frame and lower the machine to the blocking.
Remove the nuts from both wheels.
Remove the bolts (1) from the hub cap.
Remove the hub cap (2).
Remove the cotter pin (4).
Loosen the nut (3).
Tighten Nut (1) to a torque of 40 10 N m (30 7 lb ft). Oscillate the wheel hub clockwise and counterclockwise five to six times.
Increase the tightening torque to 80 10 N m (59 7 lb ft). Oscillate the wheel hub clockwise and counterclockwise five to six times.
Tighten Nut (3) to the torque of 115 5 N m (85 4 lb ft). Oscillate the wheel hub clockwise and counterclockwise five to six times. Note: Steps 8 through 10 ensures that the bearing is preloaded to the required
Loosen Nut (3) to 0 Nm torque.
Tighten Nut (3) to 5 1 N m (4 0.7 lb ft). Oscillate the wheel hub clockwise and counterclockwise five to six times.
Increase the tightening torque to the final torque of 10 1 N m (7 0.7 lb ft). Always loosen the locknut to align the cotter pin. Ensure the free rotation of the hub. Note: Ensure that the recommended lubrication is performed at the prescribed maintenance interval.
Install the cap (2).
Tighten the bolts (1) to the hub cap.
Install the nuts on both wheels.
Remove the blocking and lower the machine to the ground.
Repeat the same procedure for the opposite wheel.
