Loosen the bolts (1) that retain the front section of the drive shaft cover, and slide cover rearward to expose the front universal joint.
Inspect the area for evidence of grease loss from the universal joint seals and/or discoloration.
Remove the upper rear section of the drive shaft cover by removing bolts (2).
Inspect the inside of the cover and the area surrounding the universal joint for evidence of grease loss from the universal joint seals and/or discoloration.
The universal joints are permanently lubricated and cannot be repaired. If indications of seal leakage or discoloration are present, replace the universal joints.
