Move tube assembly (2) away from exhaust manifold (1).

Remove exhaust manifold (1). Remove the exhaust manifold gaskets.

If necessary, remove mounting studs (6) for the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
If necessary, separate the exhaust manifold. Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

If mounting studs (6) for the exhaust manifold were removed from the cylinder head, the studs must be reinstalled. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads on either end of the studs. Install studs (6). Tighten the studs to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).
Install new exhaust manifold gaskets.
If the exhaust manifold was separated, apply a thin coat of 2P-2333 High Temperature Sealer to the male ends of the exhaust manifold. Coat the female ends with clean engine oil. Assemble the manifold. Remove the excess sealer from the assembled joints.

Install assembly spacers on the exhaust manifolds. Remove the spacers before final assembly. For 3408E Engines, install the spacers at position 5 and position 7.For 3412E Engines, install the spacers at position 11, position 7, and position 9.

Install exhaust manifold (1). Install spacers (4), nuts (5), and the washers.
Tighten nuts (5) in a numerical sequence.
Tighten the nuts in a numerical sequence to a torque of 14 3 N m (10 2 lb ft).
Tighten the nuts in a numerical sequence to a torque of 38 5 N m (28 4 lb ft).

Install tube assembly (2) on exhaust manifold (1). Tighten exhaust clamp (3) and the other exhaust clamps to a torque of 7.5 1.0 N m (66 9 lb in).
