1. Open the left side access door. 2. Loosen the bolt in the top of the primary filter element housing. 3. Remove the case and element from the filter housing.4. Wash the element and case in clean, nonflammable solvent.5. Check the seal in the housing. Replace the seal if it is damaged. 6. Install the element into the case. Install the case and filter on the filter housing. Tighten the retaining bolt to a torque of 24 4 N m (18 3 lb. ft.).Secondary Filter
1. Remove and discard the secondary filter element.2. Make certain all of the used element seal is removed from the filter base.3. Coat the seal of the new element with clean diesel fuel. 4. Install the filter by hand. When the seal contacts the base, tighten 3/4 turn more. There are rotation index marks, 90° apart on the filter, as a guide for proper tightening.5. Prime the fuel system. (See next topic.)Priming Fuel System
1. Move the governor control lever to the SHUT-OFF position. 2. Turn to unlock the priming pump plunger, and pull it out. Operate the pump to fill the new filter with fuel. Continue pumping until resistance is felt, indicating the system is full. Push in the priming pump plunger, and turn it to lock it. 3. Start the engine. If the engine does not start, the fuel system has air trapped in the fuel lines to the engine.
Using only one wrench to loosen the fuel lines at the injector can cause damage to the injector.
4. Loosen all fuel injection tubing line nuts at the cylinder head of the engine.5. Use two wrenches as shown above. Do not allow the injector to move, or injector damage could result. 6. Move the governor control lever to the LOW IDLE position. 7. Turn the START/RUN switch to START. Crank the engine until fuel flows free of air bubbles, from all fuel lines.8. Shut OFF the engine.9. Use two wrenches and retighten the fuel line nuts to a torque of 40 7 N m (30 5 lb. ft.).10. Close the access door.(23)Track Pivot Shaft
Look at the Oil Level1. Remove the oil fill plug.2. If necessary, add oil to bring level to 19 mm (.75 in) below the bottom of the fill plug opening. 3. Install the fill plug.4. Repeat the above procedure on the other side of the machine.(24)Engine Crankcase Breather
