To disconnect the parking brake cable, the floor plate and the seat do not need to be removed.1. Remove the two mounting bolts, and remove the parking brake lever assembly from the frame.2. Remove plate (1). 3. Insert retaining pin (4) into the hole, and pry the small lever back. Then push the pin completely through brake assembly (3) as shown.4. Remove brake assembly (3) from the mounting bracket. 5. Pull on brake assembly (3) to unwind brake cable (2) until the end of the cable is in the open. Insert retaining pin (5) through the brake assembly to hold the ratchet assembly in place. Disconnect brake cable (2). 6. Remove the two bolts and clamp (9) that hold cable assembly (2) on plate (10).7. Remove the cotter and pin (12). Loosen nut (11), and remove cable assembly (2) from the slot in bracket assembly (6).8. Use the following procedure to increase the clearance between carriers (22) and (23) and disc (16):a. Remove the cap from brake assembly (8).b. Insert a 6.35 mm (.25 in) Allen wrench in the brake assembly.c. Rotate the Allen wrench counterclockwise while holding the brake assembly lever stationary.d. Install the cap on brake assembly (8).9. Remove spring (13) from the brake assembly lever and bracket assembly (6).10. Remove cotters (20) from rods (21) on the backside of bracket assembly (6).11. Remove two rods (21), carriers (22) and (23) and brake assembly (8) from bracket assembly (6).12. Remove four bolts (24), and move the drive shaft away from yoke (18).13. Remove four bolts (25), and remove spider (14) from the drive shaft.14. Remove ten bolts (15), and remove disc (16) from yoke (18).15. Remove bolt (17), the retainer, shims, O-ring seal and yoke (18) from the shaft.16. Remove two bolts (19), and remove bracket assembly (6) from the housing.17. If necessary, remove two bolts (7) and plate (10) from bracket assembly (6). The following steps are for installation of the parking brake.18. Position plate (10) on bracket assembly (6), and install two bolts (7).19. Position bracket assembly (6) on the housing, and install two bolts (19). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 750 80 N m (550 60 lb ft).20. Put clean oil on the lip of the seal in the housing. Put clean oil on the shaft, and install yoke (18) on the shaft. Install the O-ring seal, the retainer and bolt (17) that holds the yoke in place. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).21. Position disc (16) on yoke (18), and install ten bolts (15).22. Position spider (14) on the drive shaft, and install four bolts (25). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).23. Position the drive shaft on yoke (18), and install four bolts (24). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).24. Position brake assembly (8)
