1. Turn the fuel supply valve at the fuel tank to the "closed" position.2. Put identification marks on two wires (3), and disconnect them from the sending unit.3. Disconnect fuel lines (5) and (6) from the fuel filter assembly.4. Remove two bolts (2), and pull fuel filter assembly (1) forward. Disconnect fuel line (4), and remove the fuel filter assembly. 5. Use tool (A) to remove fuel filter (14) from fuel filter base (15).6. Loosen nut (13), and remove case assembly (7), the gasket, spring (8), retainer (9) and filter element (10) from the fuel filter base.7. Use tool (B) to remove snap ring (11), and pull nut (13) and O-ring seal (12) from the fuel filter base. The following steps are for installation of the fuel filter.8. Put O-ring seal (12) and nut (13) in position in the fuel filter base. Use tool (B) to install snap ring (11) which holds nut (13) in place in fuel filter base (15).9. Put the case assembly gasket in position in the fuel filter base and lubricate it with engine oil. Install filter element (10), retainer (9), spring (8) and case assembly (7) on the fuel filter base. Tighten nut (13) to a torque of 24 4 N m (18 3 lb ft).10. Lubricate the gasket on fuel filter (14) with engine oil, and install fuel filter (14) on the fuel filter base. Follow the instructions on the fuel filter for the correct installation procedure.11. Position the fuel filter assembly, and connect fuel line (4).12. Position the fuel filter assembly, and install two bolts (2) that hold it in place.13. Connect fuel lines (5) and (6) to the fuel filter assembly.14. Connect two wires (3) to the sending unit.15. Turn the fuel supply valve at the fuel tank to the "open" position.
