There are four serial numbers on an XQ Rental Generator Set. The serial numbers identify the engine, the generator, the enclosure, and the trailer. All four serial numbers should be located and recorded in this booklet for future reference.Other important identification information includes the engine Information Plate, and the generator Name Plate.Engine Identification
Caterpillar engines are identified with serial numbers, fuel system setting numbers, and arrangement numbers. In some cases, modification numbers are used. These numbers are shown on the Serial Number Plate and the Information Plate mounted on the engine.Caterpillar dealers need all of these numbers to determine which components were included on the engine when the engine was assembled at the factory. This permits accurate identification of replacement part numbers.

The generator Name Plate is installed on the plastic cover over the main power connections on the distribution panel.

The controls for your generator will be located in a control panel. The control panel is located in a cabinet above the distribution panel. The part number of the control panel is located on a nameplate inside the panel.Engineering prints are shipped inside each control panel. Refer to the Service Manual or contact your Caterpillar dealer for additional copies of the prints. Consult with your Caterpillar dealer for replacement parts.
