Remove nuts (16) and bolts (20). Support the fuel injection pump as nuts (16) and bolts (20) are removed.
Carefully remove fuel injection pump (4) from front housing (17).
Remove gasket (19)
If necessary, remove studs (8) from front housing (17).
If necessary, remove the fuel injection pump gear and adaptor plate. Refer to "Fuel Injection Pump Gear - Remove" for the correct procedure.Installation Procedure
Ensure that the fuel injection pump, gear, and adaptor plate are free from wear or damage. Replace any component that is worn or damaged.
When a new replacement fuel injection pump for a M.C.S specification engine is to be replaced, the new replacement fuel injection pump will be supplied with a standard cross over tube assembly. To convert the standard new replacement fuel injection pump. The original cross over tube assembly on the new replacement fuel injection pump will need to be replaced with a new M.C.S. specification cross over tube assembly.

When a fuel injection pump is to be replaced, the new replacement fuel injection pump will be supplied without compression fittings for the low-pressure fuel connections. To connect the new replacement fuel injection pump to tube assemblies (2) and (12), appropriate compression fittings will need to be ordered separately. Refer to Parts Identification Manual, "Lines Gp - Fuel" for parts identification.

Standard Cross Over Tube Assembly on a Fuel Injection Pump (X)
M.C.S. Specification Cross Over Tube Assembly on a Fuel Injection Pump (Y)
Follow Step 4.a through Step 4.c to replace standard cross over tube assembly (21) on fuel injection pump (X) for a M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly (22) on fuel injection pump (Y).
Remove cross over tube assembly (21) from fuel injection pump (A). Use tooling (A) to cap the fuel injection pump.
Remove caps the fuel injection pump. Install a new M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly (22). Ensure that the M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly is correctly orientated. Tighten the tube nut M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly hand tight.Note: Ensure that the ends of the M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly are correctly seated in the fuel injection pump.
Tighten M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly (22) to a torque of 55 N m (41 lb ft). Ensure that the M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly is not strained M.C.S specification cross over tube assembly line is tightened.

If necessary, use Tooling (A) to rotate the crankshaft so that number one piston is at top dead center on the compression stroke. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center Position for No.1 Piston" and Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel Injection Timing - Check" for the correct procedures.
Use Tooling (B) to lock the crankshaft and Tooling (C) to lock the fuel injection pump.
If necessary, install studs (8) onto front housing (17). Tighten the studs to a torque of 11
