The machine transmission is provided by hydrostatic drive. Transmission Control (1) - The transmission control is used to select the direction of the machine and the transmission speed.
Forward - Lift the transmission control and push the transmission control fully forward in order to select forward movement.
Neutral - Move the transmission control to the mid-position in order to select Neutral. Move the transmission control to the Neutral position when you park the machine. The transmission control must be in the Neutral position before the engine can be started.
Reverse - Lift the transmission control and pull the transmission control fully rearward in order to select reverse movement. Speed Selection (2) - The transmission incorporates a lower preset speed range and a higher preset speed range. The two speed ranges are indicated on collar (2).
Lower speed range 0 to 8 km/h (5 mph) - Rotate transmission control (1) until the "KD" position is opposite the line. Note: Use the 0 to 8 km/h (5 mph) speed range in conjunction with the settings for the work mode on the power mode switch. Select the 0 to 8 km/h (5 mph) speed range for handling heavy materials such as earth, sand, cement and aggregates.
Higher speed range 0 to 32 km/h (20 mph) - Rotate transmission control (1) until the "gear wheel" position is opposite the line. Note: Alternative transmission speeds up to 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or 25 km/h (15.5 mph) are also available for the higher speed range.Changing Direction and Speed
The transmission control can be moved from the lower speed range to the higher speed range while the machine is in motion. It is not necessary to release the accelerator control. Bring the machine to a stop before attempting to change from a higher speed range to a lower speed range. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Control" for additional information.Control the speed of the machine in order to suit conditions. Make an allowance for surface conditions, weather conditions and load.Note: These machines are not equipped with speedometers. Before you change the direction of the machine from forward to reverse or from reverse to forward stop the machine completely.Select the correct speed range before you travel downhill. Do not move the transmission control while you are going downhill. When you go downhill, use the same speed range that would be used to go uphill. Do not allow the engine to overspeed when you go downhill. Use the service brake to prevent engine overspeed when you go downhill. Select a lower speed range before you go down the same hill again.When you are travelling uphill select the speed range that will allow the required speed to be maintained. Do not allow the torque converter to slip and do not allow the engine to lug.
