Cleaning The Paver After Operation
Shut off screed torches and allow the screed to cool before spraying the fuel oil or kerosene solvents. Be sure any puddles or collections of excess cleaning solvents are dried off machine and machine is moved from area where it was sprayed if torches are going to be used again. Fire could destroy paver or cause personal injury.
Proper cleaning of the paver, especially the screed, after completion of operation is very important to trouble-free paving the next time. A spray nozzle with enough hose to spray all parts of the paver with diesel fuel is supplied.Clean the paver in a manner so that the excess fuel from the cleaning can be contained and disposed of properly.One method used to contain the excess fuel from the cleaning is to position the paver on a layer of sand. After the cleaning is complete, reclaim and use the sand in the next batch of asphalt to be mixed.As soon as the paving operation is completed, move the paver to a level area away from the just completed mat and away from where asphalt will soon be placed. Clean the paver. Move the spray control switch to the ON position. Squeeze the nozzle lever to operate the spray system.Keep the diesel fuel away from hydraulic hoses, electrical connections and electrical cables as much as possible. Clean any part of the paver that comes into contact with the asphalt:* Push roll assembly* Hopper* Augers* Screed - Clean the front and bottom of the screed.
