Be careful not to bump (make contact with) the tractor when the roller frame is installed on the pivot shaft.
(6) Install 7G9708 Plate (10) with twelve 1A1135 Bolts (12) and tighten to standard torque. Install 9M5894 Seal (16) on 7G5972 Plate (17) with lubricant. Remove 9S4185 Plug (13) from plate (17); this will make installation of plate (17) easier. Install plate (17) with 1P9254 Ring (11). Again, install plug (13) with 3K360 Seal (14). (7) Install the cover or dozer trunnion, if so equipped. Install the equalizer bar pin (24) [each side) and tighten nuts (25) to a torque of 1350 150 N m (1000 110 lb.ft.). (9) Install eight 1A5822 Bolts (21) [each side] with 5P8245 Washers and tighten to a torque of 100 15 N m (75 10 lb ft).Installation Of Track
Before installation of the track, get the engine ready to be started. Check the engine oil level, coolant and fuel. Install the exhaust stack extension. Fill the power train oil tank and the hydraulic oil tank (see the Lubrication and Maintenance Guide). Keep the oil in the hydraulic system at the correct level, to prevent pump cavitation (vacuum bubbles). Check the oil level in the final drive housings. After the engine is ready for operation, and the oil tanks have been filled, the track can be installed. Use caution when the track is lifted or moved. The D9L is equipped with Sealed and Lubricated Track, which is very flexible.
If the machine is lowered into position on the track and the track has not been connected, use blocks to make sure the machine cannot move off the track. The machine service brakes cannot be operated until the tracks are connected together over the final drive sprockets.
The following track installation procedure is the same for both types of truck shipment. If shipment is by a low-boy, the tractor must be lowered onto the tracks; if shipment is by beam trailer, the tractor can be driven off the beam trailer after the front of the trailer is lowered. (1) Put the track in position in front of each roller frame. With a wheel loader or similar machine, pull the track under each roller frame as shown. Make sure the track is in a straight line with the track rollers. (2) After the track is in position under the roller frames, remove shipping brackets (1) from the rollers. Put a block under the end of each track at the rear of the tractor. The tracks can be installed on the tractor before or after the front of the beam trailer is lowered. The procedure given is after the beam trailer is lowered. (3) Remove all shipping chains and lower the front of the beam trailer. (4) With a wheel loader or similar machine, pull the track back over the roller frame until the first bushing is engaged with the drive sprocket.
Make sure to pull the cable in a straight line.
(5) Start the engine and
