Note: In order to access the areas required to perform this procedure, a portable access system (ladder, stair assembly, man lift, or other portable access system) that is suitable and compliant to local regulations may be necessary.Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
Illustration 1 g03308076Inspect the fan (1) for the following conditions:
Missing, twisted, cracked, gouged, or dented blades.
Evidence of fan contact with shroud, cutoff plates, or other.
Evidence of separation of laminated sections.
Loose or missing rivets.
Excessive abrasion or corrosion of blades and rivets.Note: When radiator or engine are removed, Perform a visual inspection after rebuild and every 18,000 hours. Replace fan, if necessary.Cleaning Instructions
Clean debris off first before the visual inspection.
Use a damp cloth with water in order to clean off debris. Note: Never use an abrasive to clean the fan surface.Replacement
Note: Fans cannot be repaired. Replace fan between 52,000 hours and 54,000 hours.Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, UENR5575 for information on replacing the fan.
