This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5529" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from Parts Stock as soon as possible.
If a hose is replaced on one engine of a two engine powered boat, the other engine's hose may also be replaced at this time. Separate claims should be filed for the engines. Engines in dealer inventory may also have their hose replaced and the zinc rod removed prior to installation in a boat.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the December 13, 1998 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product, Parts Needed, Service Claim Allowances, and Rework Procedure.

8X4177 and 152-6439 Hoses on certain 3176C and 3196 Marine Engines equipped with 1347213 Fuel Cooler Gp. have been subject to collapse because of lack of rigidity. This causes overheating and failures of the raw water pump. A new 1632919/">163-2919 Hose will offer sufficient rigidity to prevent these problems.Sacrificial zinc rods in marine raw water systems decompose with time. In these engines, the zinc rod in the downstream side of the fuel cooler may break off and travel to the inlet of the raw water pump. Impeller damage to the pump could result. The "downstream only" zinc rod must be replaced with a plug.
