Clean precleaner
1. Open the engine access cover. 2. Remove precleaner (1) from the main air cleaner.3. Remove dust valve (2).4. Clean precleaner using pressure air.5. Inspect dust valve (2) for cracks or breaks. Replace if damaged.6. Install dust valve (2).7. Install precleaner (1) on main air cleaner.8. Close the engine access cover.Water Separator
Change Element
1. Open the engine access cover. 2. Open the drain valve and allow fuel to drain from separator.3. Clean all dirt from the separator and surrounding area. 4. To remove the element, depress the extended tab with the heel of the hand. Then lift the slotted tab from the locking slot, at the top of the base, with the fingers.5. Pull the old element from the base and discard it. Caterpillar water separator is shown; if equipped with another type of water separator, refer to the manufacturer's instructions for servicing. 6. Clean the three sealing surfaces (1) on the base (2) with a clean cloth.7. Install the new element (3) to the base by first inserting the roll pin (4) into the outlet passage at the bottom of the base. Align the filter holes with the base holes, and push the element into place.8. Place the lower tab of the clamp in the bottom locking slot of the base. Push the upper tab into the locking slot at the top of the base. Make sure clamp is securely engaged in the top and bottom locking slots.9. Open the fuel supply valve and start the engine. It may be necessary to prime the fuel system if the engine does not start. See "Purging the Fuel System of Air" in the "When Required" section. Inspect for fuel leaks.Secondary Fuel Filter
Change filter
1. Open the engine access cover. 2. Remove and discard the fuel filter. 3. Clean the filter base with clean, nonflammable solvent. Make sure all of the old filter seal is removed from the filter base.4. Apply a thin coat of diesel fuel to the seal of the new fuel filter.5. Install the new filter by hand until the filter contacts the base. Tighten 3/4 turn more.6. Close the engine access cover.Propulsion Gearbox
Check oil level
1. Remove the check plug on the right side of the gearbox. Maintain oil to the bottom of the plug opening. 2. Remove fill plug and add oil if necessary.3. Clean and install plugs.4. Repeat this procedure for the other propulsion gearbox.Pump Drive Gearbox
