Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the secondary speed/timing sensor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Secondary Engine Speed/Timing Sensor - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Pulley - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolt (3) and remove harness (1) with clip (2) away from engine.
Remove bolts (7) from bracket (6). Remove bolt (5).
Remove dipstick tube assembly (4) from cylinder block. Note: Note position of different length bolts for installation purposes.
Remove bolts (10) and remove nuts (8).
Carefully remove front housing (9) from the engine.

Remove gasket (12) from engine assembly. Note: Ensure that the crankshaft is NOT rotated after the front cover has been removed.
If necessary, remove the studs (11).

Check that the dowels (13) are free from damage, if necessary replace the dowels. Check pin (14) is free from damage, if necessary replace the pin.

If necessary, remove bolt (17) and plate (16) from front housing (9). Remove O ring seal (15) from front housing (9).
