Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Approximately 40 L (10.6 US gal) of oil must be collected when the hose assemblies are disconnected and the transmission oil filter is removed.
Reposition two boots (1). Remove two nuts (2) and two washers. Disconnect wiring harness (4).
Cut strap (3). Reposition wire harness (4).
Remove four bolts (7) and (15), and remove four washers. Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (14). Remove O-ring seal (8).
Disconnect hose assembly (14). Remove O-ring seal (15).
Remove two bolts (9), two bolts (12), and four washers. Disconnect remaining hose assembly (11). Remove O-ring seal (10).
Use a suitable hoist to support transmission oil filter (13). The transmission oil filter weighs approximately 30 kg (66.1 lb).
Remove four bolts (6), four washers, and torque converter oil filter (13).
