D10R (3KR) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSProblem:
Some D10R machines are experiencing excessive system contamination, especially after a component failure within the hydraulic system or a change in the hydraulic system configuration. Examples of hydraulic component failures have included implement pump failures and cylinder endstroke valve failures.Solution:
If SOS oil sample results indicate excessive or a rising trend in contamination levels, or if a major component has failed, restore the system cleanliness by the following:1. Clean the system thoroughly, preferably with a "kidney loop" cleanup system as outlined in SEBF8456 "Contamination Control Guideline". Additional guidelines can be found in Product Support Recommendations at the following web sites: http://product support.cat.com/cc/cc.htm https://nacd.cat.comfocastames/prodsupp/cc/2. Install 139-1537 Clean-up Filter Elements (6 micron).3. Run the machine for 20 to 50 hours.4. Take an oil sample.5. Install a 1R-0777 Intermediate Filter (25 micron). the 1R-0735 Standard Filter is 35 micron.6. Run the machine for the remainder of the 500 hour service interval.7. Continue 250 hour SOS.8. Change back to the standard 1R-0735 Filters if the system returns to acceptable cleanliness levels.Additional steps should be taken after implement hydraulic pump failures.1. After pump replacement, check the inlet hose for internal blockage or collapse that could restrict inlet flow.2. Check the vacuum breaker function on the hydraulic tank. If the vacuum is not relieved during tank cool-down, there may be excessive restriction to the pumps' inlet.3.
