Caterpillar recommends use of the 317-7484 Communication Adapter Gp with all Tier 4 interim and newer machine engines. The additional Electronic control modules (ECM), and the emissions package have increased the data traffic on the J1939 datalink compared to Tier 3 commercial engines. The new communication adapter group allows the all of the data to be viewed, which allows for proper troubleshooting of the engine.The new communication adapter group includes the following benefits:
