Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propulsion lever (2) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (3) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (4) to the ON position.
Move screed lower switch (6) to the DOWN position. Lower the screed to the ground.
Move throttle control switch (5) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (1) to the OFF position.

Move key switch (7) to the OFF position.
Open the pump compartment on the left side of the machine.

Remove the plug from "M4" port (8). Remove the plug from "M5" port (9) .
Install Tool (C) and Tool (D) in "M4" port (8). Install a second set of these tools in "M5" port (9) .
Install Tool (B) onto Tool (A). Install a second Tool (B) onto a second Tool (A). Connect Tool (A) to "M4" port (8). Connect the second Tool (A) to "M5" port (9) .

Disconnect the reverse EDC (10). The connector is located at the end of the short wires which extend from the EDC. Mark the connector for identification.Note: The A332-YL wire and the 202-BK wire are connected to the reverse EDC for the left propulsion pump. The A333-PK wire and the 202-BK wire are connected to the reverse EDCfor the right propulsion pump. Disconnecting the EDC will cause a fault to appear in the monitoring system when the machine is started. After this procedure is completed, the fault must be cleared from the monitoring system.
Disconnect the forward EDC (11). Mark the connector for identification.Note: The 335-BR wire and the 202-BK wire are connected to the forward EDC connector for the left propulsion pump. The 336-GY wire and the 202-BK wire are connected to the forward EDC connector for the right propulsion pump. Disconnecting the EDC connector will cause a fault to appear in the monitoring system when the machine is started. After this procedure is completed, the fault must be cleared from the monitoring system.
Move key switch (7) to the ON position. Move engine start switch (1) to the START position. Release the engine start switch when the engine starts.
