Change Filter
Park the machine on level ground. Apply the parking brake and stop the engine.Primary Fuel Filter
1 Loosen the filter case retaining bolt. 2 Remove the case and the element from the filter base. 3 Remove the filter element from the case.
When using pressure air, wear a protective face shield and protective clothing. The maximum air pressure at the nozzle must be less than 205 kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes.Use all cleaning solutions with care.
4 Wash the element in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Shake or blow all parts dry. 5 Clean the case with a cloth or a stiff fiber brush. 6 Insert the element in the case. 7 Install the case and element on the base. Tighten the retaining bolt. 8 Start the engine and check for leaks.Final Filter
1 Unscrew the retaining bolt located at the center of the filter head. 2 Remove and dispose of old element. 3 Before putting the new element in place clean the head and bowl of the filter. 4 Inspect the seals, replace if they are not in good condition. 5 Place the new element carefully in the bowl tighten the retaining bolt in the center of the filter cover.
Do not overtighten the filter element
6 Prime the fuel system (see the next topic) 7 Start the engine and check for leaks.Priming the Fuel System
1 Loosen the drain plug of the regulator. 2 Loosen the drain plug of the injection pump hydraulic head. 3 Activate the priming lever. If it is not possible to activate the lever, rotate the crankshaft one turn. 4 Activate the priming lever until fuel leaks through the drain plug openings. 5 Tighten the drain plugs in the following order. 1 Hydraulic head plug2 Regulator plug 6 Run the engine and check for leaks.Fuel System (Deutz)
Change Filter
Park the machine on level ground. Apply the parking brake and stop the engine.Fuel Filter
1 Remove the fuel filter with a strap-type wrench. 2 Clean the filter base gasket surface. Remove all of the old gasket. 3 Lubricate the new filter gasket with clean diesel fuel. 4 Install the new filter element by hand. When the gasket contacts the base, tighten 1/2 turn more.
Do not overtighten the filter element and the screen.
Cleaning the Fuel Pump Screen
1 Remove retaining bolt and cover. Remove screen (1). Clean screen with fuel. Install screen, cover and retaining bolt.2 Prime the fuel system (see the next topic). 3 Start the engine and check for leaks.Priming the Fuel System
1 Loosen the discharge valve 2 to 3 turns. 2 Activate the pump until fuel flows out of the discharge valve. 3 Tighten the discharge valve. 4 Start the engine and look for leaks.
