Information:
3. Hold the feeder switches in the OVERRIDE position to move the first asphalt material back and spread it across the front of the screed.4. When the head of asphalt is about half way up the screw conveyor at the outer edges, return the feeder switches to AUTO.Starting to Pave
1. Check the following switches for proper position:* Power switch (7) - STOP * Steering mode switch (2) - PAVE* Park brake switch (6) - OFF* Propel range switch (4) - LOW* Directional travel switch (5) - FORWARD* Compactor switch (3) - AUTO* Feeder switches (1) - ON * Grade sensor switches (if equipped) (8) - RUN or STANDBY as appropriate.* Slope sensor switch (if equipped) (9) - RUN or STANDBY as appropriate. 2. Turn speed selection control (10) to SLOW.3. Hold the engine speed switch (11) in the FAST position until the engine reaches maximum rpm. Release the switch.4. When all personnel are ready, move the power switch to GO and bring the paver up to speed with the speed selection control. The machine will start forward and the screed will ride off the wooden blocks or strips onto the asphalt. The truck brakes must be released enough to allow the paver to push the truck, but not enough to allow the truck to roll away from the paver.5. Turn the vibrator speed control to adjust the vibrator speed as necessary.6. Check the head of material at the screw conveyor and adjust the feeder control paddles and/or feeder gates as necessary. The head of material should be kept as constant as possible.Raising the feeder control paddles will raise the material level in front of the screed. Lowering the paddles will lower the head of material.Moving the feeder control sensors inward will reduce the outward flow of material. Setting the sensors too far inward will cause a material shortage at the outer ends of the screed.Moving the feeder control sensors outward will increase the outward flow of material. Setting the sensors too far outward will cause material to flow around the end plates. If the gates are too low, there will not be enough material, especially at the center of the screw conveyor. If the gates are too high, the screw conveyor will be overloaded. The screw conveyor shaft should barely be covered or the top of the shaft should be visible. Material depth should be approximately the same across the width of the screw conveyor. 7. Check the mat thickness at several places across the mat and make any required adjustments to the thickness controls. Do not over adjust. Allow at least three tow arm lengths of travel for an adjustment to take effect before making another adjustment. Never turn the thickness controls more than one turn at a time. If slope control and/or grade control are being used, make any corrections to mat thickness or slope with the adjustable sensor mount or the remote setpoint, not with the thickness controls. Use care not to over adjust these controls
