Install the O-ring seals, adapter (28), and plug (27) on transfer case (9).

Install the O-ring seal and nipple (25) into transfer case (9).

Install flared connector (25) and tube (24) in transfer case (9).
Install tube assembly (20) and the flared elbow. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (21). Use a suitable driver to install bearing cup (21). Install orifice plug (22) and ball (23) in transfer case (9).

Raise the temperature of bearing cone (18) and bearing cone (19). Install bearing cone (18) and bearing cone (19) on transfer gear assembly (17).

Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to install transfer gear assembly (17) in transfer case (9). The weight of transfer gear assembly (17) is approximately 66 kg (146 lb).

Lower the temperature of the bearing cup (16). Install bearing cup (16) in bearing cage (11).

Install lip seal (15) in bearing cage (11). Refer to Reuse and Salvage Guidelines, "Lip Type Seals"SEBF9247 for the proper lip seal installation procedure.

Install O-ring seals (13) and (14) on bearing cage (11).

Install shims (12) on transfer case (9).

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install bearing cage (11) on transfer case (9). The weight of bearing cage (11) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

Install bolts (10) on transfer case (9). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).

Rotate transfer gear assembly (17) by three revolutions in each direction.
Use Tooling (G) to measure the end play. Adjust shims (12) to achieve an end play of 0.10 mm to 0.18 mm (0.004 inch to 0.007 inch).

Install dust cap (8) on transfer case (9).
