THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Put orientation and location marks on all fittings for installation purposes.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the hydraulic system oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic system is approximately 300 L (79 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.

Open grill assembly (1) .

Install Tooling (A) on cover (2). Use a suitable lifting device to remove cover (2) .

Disconnect harness assemblies (3) and (4) .

Disconnect hose assemblies (5), (6), (7), and (8) .
Remove bolts (9) and disconnect tube assembly (10) .

Support piston pump (12) with a suitable lifting device. The weight of piston pump (12) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Remove bolts (11) and remove piston pump (12) .
