Shipping
There are a number of different shipping methods:- By road- On a trailer- By rail- By seaCheck the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance.
Remove ice, snow or other slippery material from shipping machine and loading dock, before loading the machine.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads. 1 Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2 After the machine is in position, connect the steering frame lock link to hold the articulated frame rigid. 3 Place transmission control lever in neutral. 4 Apply parking brake. 5 Turn off the engine. Remove the starter key. 6 Turn the disconnect switch off and remove the key. 7 When loading or unloading the machine by means of a crane, place cables in the four lifting eyes provided. These lifting eyes are identified on the machine by a hook symbol. 8 Wedge the drums, and solidly lash down the machine for rail or truck transport, using chains with adjusters attached to the front and rear lifting points. If ropes are being used, an electric ground link to the carriage must be made, using twisted wire for instance (rail transportation). 9 Cover the exhaust opening or secure the rain cap to prevent the turbocharger from "windmilling" in transit.Sea Shipment
In addition to the above, specific conditions apply to sea shipments:Since electrolyte has been removed from the batteries, it is necessary to refill the batteries with electrolyte 30 minutes prior to starting the machine.Depending on the country of destination or the type of transport, the machine may be delivered with a protective cloth or covered with a special parafin wax coating (ELOX 51 W MF) to prevent any corrosion.Roading
Before roading a machine, consult your tire dealer for recommended tire pressures and speed limitations."TON Km/h" (TON MPH) limitations must be observed. Consult your tire dealer for the speed limit of the tires involved.Due to the type of machine, roading should be reduced to a minimum. Use the directional signals in accordance with local road regulations. Inflate the tires to the correct pressure. Use a self-attaching inflation chuck and stand behind the tire tread while inflating the tire. See "Tire Inflation Information". Bring the engine coolant, the crankcase oil and the transmission oil up to the correct levels.Check with the proper officials to obtain the required permits, etc... Travel at a moderate speed. Observe all speed limitations when roading the machine. For machines equipped with pad foot drums it is prohibited to travel on public highways and roads.Perform a "Walk-Around Inspection" and measure the fluid levels in the various compartments.
