ACTION REQUIRED
An updated Engine Software version is available and can be downloaded on certain European Union(EU) 140M Non-AWD Motor Graders in the field. This updated Engine Software revision will improve Engine performance. A modification has also been made to the ether strategy. Previous software allowed ether to be injected when cycling the key directly to the start position regardless of whether ether was required or not.
Use the CAT Electronic Technician (ET) service tool to perform the following work:
- Obtain the correct Software Flash File (P/N 352-4696) from SISWeb.
- Download Software Flash File (P/N 352-4696) to the hard drive of the laptop computer.
- Install the Software Flash File (P/N 352-4696) on the Engine ECM using the WINFlash program.
** After the flashing of the Engine ECM, start the machine and verify that all ECM
systems are functional.
GROUP DESCRIPTION
Group 1 - All 140M Non-AWD Motor Graders *(European Union(EU) machines only)
The following items will be required to be updated and present in and/or on the machine upon completion of this Service Letter. Please reference the Rework Procedure section for a detailed explanation on the request process through the CAT E-mail system of these items.
A.) New stamped updated CE Plate (P/N 225-4148)
B.) New Declaration of Conformity (EEC)
* Dealer Confirmation required that the new software has been installed before the new Declaration of Conformity (EEC) will be released for shipment.
C.) Re-issued updated Engine Information label. (Refer to Image 1.1.2)
IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO EXECUTE THIS SERVICE LETTER, BUT LATER INSTALL THIS OR ANY FUTURE VERSIONS OF ENGINE SOFTWARE ON THIS MACHINE, THE ENGINE INFORMATION LABEL "ADVERTISED POWER" INFORMATION WILL BE INCONSISTENT WITH ACTUAL ADVERTISED ENGINE POWER.

Please reference below the ordering process of the following items which will be required to be updated and present in and/or on the machine upon completion of this Service Letter.
After downloading the updated software and prior to releasing the machine back to the customer, the following listed items need to be ordered.
- New Updated and Stamped CE plate (P/N 225-4148)
- New Declaration of Conformity (EEC)
- Re-issued Engine Information Label (Refer to Image 1.1.2)
