Lower hitch assembly

Apply Loctite C5A Anti-Seize to the bearing cup bores prior to assembly.Note: Use five 8T-4223 Hard Washers on each bolt in the next step.
Install lower bearing cap (6) with four bolts and washers (3), equally spaced around the cap.
Lower the temperature of bearing cups (4) and (5) to −62° 10°C (−80° 18°F).
Install lower bearing cup (5) into the bore of the housing. Drive the bearing cup downward to ensure contact with lower bearing cap (6).
Lubricate the bearing cones with oil and install the bearing cones.
Install upper bearing cup (4). Drive the bearing cup downward to ensure light contact pressure on the bearing cones.
Install 1.55 mm (0.061 inch) of shims (3), upper bearing cap (2), and four bolts with washers (1). Install the bolts at 90 degree intervals. Tighten the bolts by an equal amount to a torque of 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).
Adjust the rolling torque to rotate the bearing cones. As required, add, or remove shims to attain the correct amount of rolling torque. The rolling torque should be not less than 10 N m (90 lb in) or greater than 34 N m (300 lb in).
Remove bearing caps (2) and (6). Install seals (7) and (8) in bearing caps (2) and (6). Lubricate the sealing lips on seals (7) and (8) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease.
Install bearing caps (2) and (6) with the number of shims found in Step 8. Install all bolts with washers (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).Procedure to Install the Lower Hitch Pin

Install spacer (13) into upper bearing cap (2).
Fasten plate (16) to pin (12) with five bolts and washers (18).
Lower the temperature of pin (12) to −62° 10°C (−80° 18°F).
Install pin (12) into the bores of the lower hitch.
Align the holes in plate (16) with the holes in lower frame boss (14). Install two bolts with washers (17) in the outer bolt circle.
Tighten two bolts with washers (17). This will secure plate (16) to lower frame boss (14). Allow pin (12) to warm to ambient temperature.
Bolt upper plate (9) to pin (12). Use three equally spaced bolts with washers (10). To secure the bearing components, tighten the bolts to 270 40 N m (200 30 lb ft).
Insert a depth gauge through the small hole near the center of retainer plate (9). Measure the distance between the top of pin (12) and plate (9).
Remove plate (9). Measure the thickness of plate (9). Subtract this amount from the value found in Step 8. This is the required thickness of shims (11).
