Typical Example33. Install spacer (3), retainer plate (2) and three bolts (1) on each side of boom cylinder support pin (4).34. Adjust the lateral clearance on both sides of support pin (4).
Adjust lateral clearance to 1.6 mm (.06 in) maximum for each side of the boom-to-boom cylinder rod end support pin joint. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the components.
35. Slide rod end of right boom cylinder (5) until contact is made with the boom. Measure the clearance between rod end of right boom cylinder (5) and the spacer at the pin. Record this measurement. The clearance must not be more than 1.6 mm (.06 in) maximum. If the clearance is less than 1.6 mm (.06 in), the addition of shims is not required. Tighten three bolts (1) to a torque of 240 40 N m (175 30 lb ft) and proceed to Step 37. If the clearance between the two components is more than 1.6 mm (.06 in), add the correct thickness of shims to obtain the necessary clearance.36. If it has been determined that shims need to be installed, again remove three bolts (1) and the washers, retainer plate (2) and spacer (3) from the end of the right boom cylinder support pin (4).37. Position the correct thickness of shims, determined from the measurement in Step 35, on the support pin against the rod end of the right boom cylinder. Reinstall spacer (3), retainer plate (2) and three bolts (1) on the end of right boom cylinder support pin (4). Tighten three bolts (1) to a torque of 240 40 N m (175 30 lb ft).38. Repeat Step 35 to adjust lateral clearance on the left side of support pin (4) at the boom-to-left boom cylinder rod end. Refer to the topic "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" in the "Operation & Maintenance Manual" for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic oil system.39. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level.40. Lubricate the mounting pins for the right and the left boom cylinders. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct lubricating procedure.41. Start the machine, and run it at low idle speed. Move the control level for the boom so the boom cylinder rods extend to their halfway position; then retract the cylinder rods. The cylinders should be cycled this way approximately ten times to remove the air from the hydraulic system. Shut off the engine. Check for any leaks.42. Check the oil level in the hydraulic oil tank. If necessary, refill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level.Disassemble & Assemble Boom Cylinders
Start By:a. remove boom cylinder Several different boom cylinder groups are available. The disassembly and assembly procedure which follows is similar for all the boom cylinder groups. However, reference must be made to the 330B & 330B L Excavator Attachments Specifications module, SENR8979, for the correct specifications for specific boom cylinder groups.Fluid Spillage Containment
