When the push arms or the C-frames are fastened to the trunnions on the undercarriage, the thicker bearing caps and the longer bolts permit additional stretch of the bolts. The additional stretch prevents premature loosening, loss of bolts, and damage to the machine components. The hard washers and the square nuts help to attain proper stretch of the bolts during the tightening. The hard washers are installed under the bolt heads, not under the nuts.

   This change is also adaptable to all D7R and D8R track-type tractors that are equipped with bulldozers. In order to modify these machines, replace the former caps, bolts, and nuts with these components: two 193-3063 Bearing Caps, four 3E-9850 Bolts, four 9X-8258 Washers and four 195-6283 Square Nuts .Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1800 200 N m (1330 150 lb ft). Follow the procedure for shim adjustment in the Special Instruction for your bulldozer.
