This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs.The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS52928" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
A pressure wash process may have pushed water past the slip joint exhaust and into the cylinders on certain 3512B Generator Sets. Only the cylinders with the exhaust valves open at that time would be affected. This condition was identified at Top End Overhaul with some cylinder liners having corrosion indications on the I.D.

ACTION REQUIRED
At Top End Overhaul inspect each cylinder liner per SEBF8068 "Inspection and Reuse Guideline of Cylinder Liners in Cat Engines". Be sure to rotate the engine crankshaft to inspect the inside of the complete cylinder liner wall. Replace only those liners which fail the reuse guideline up to, a maximum of 7 cylinders.
