Failure to connect the unit to a suitable grounding electrode creates an electrical shock hazard. An electrical shock will result in serious personal injury or death.
High voltage levels are present within the UPS. The UPS should be opened only by service personnel that are qualified. The UPS must have a proper ground connection to earth.
High voltage may be present. Work on this equipment must be performed by authorized trained personnel. Failure to disconnect the power source before performing maintenance or removing modules exposes personnel to electrical potential. Bodily contact with electrical potential will cause serious personal injury or death.
After power is removed, wait for 5 minutes before the UPS is opened. This action allows the capacitors to discharge. Ensure that the capacitors are at a zero energy level before performing work.Personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable to the work being performed must be worn when performing maintenance on the UPS.

Personnel must be wearing Personal Protective Equipment that meets regulatory requirements to protect the body for the work that is being performed. Failure to use appropriate PPE to protect the body will result in serious personal injury or death.
Inspecting the Interior of the UPS
Performing maintenance inspections with power supplied to the UPS may result in serious personal injury or death. When using an external maintenance bypass, the UPS can be fully de-energized. When using an internal maintenance bypass, the UPS is not fully de-energized. Refer to the Building System Schematic to ensure that all necessary precautions have been taken before performing any maintenance procedure. Use lock out and tag out procedures as required.
When possible, remove the panels and inspect the following:
Ensure that you are familiar with the input terminations, output terminations, buses, and other components of the UPS that may still have voltage present.
Verify that the power cables and other wire cable routings do not contact any sharp metal edges or unprotected metal edges.
Verify that the power connections and the connections for the control wires on the following are correct and tight: Verify the capacitor banks, bus bars, circuit breakers, switches, grounding straps, transformers, terminal strips, ribbon cables, and PCA.
Verify that the DC power cable connections to the bus bars, circuit breakers, switches, and terminal strips are correct and tight.
Verify that the power cable connections and the connections for the control wire for any external maintenance bypass cabinet are correct and tight.
Verify that the power cable connections and the connections for the control wire for any auxiliary cabinets and RASPs are correct and tight.
Verify that there are no visible signs of interior damage. Check all installed components and assemblies, mounting points, and the structural integrity of the cabinet.
Verify that the wiring is tight.
Verify that the AC capacitor assemblies and the DC capacitor assemblies have the proper phase and proper connections.
Verify that the interior of the UPS is free of foreign items. Items may include extra wire, tools, loose hardware, and any other objects that do
