Start By:
Remove the differential pinion.Pinion (Standard, Limited Slip)

Remove bolt (5), retainer (4), shims (3), O-ring seal (2), and yoke (1).

Remove bolts (8) and retainer (6). Remove seal (7) from retainer (6).

Remove spacer (9).

Use a suitable press to remove shaft assembly (10) from pinion housing (11).

Remove bearing cone (12) from shaft (10).

Remove bearing cone (13) from pinion housing (11). Remove bearing cups (14) and (15) from pinion housing (11).Assembly Procedure

Use a suitable press to press bearing cups (14) and (15) into pinion housing (11). If the temperature of bearing cups (14) and (15) was lowered, then make sure that bearing cups (14) and (15) are fully seated after the temperature of bearing cups (14) and (15) rises to room temperature. Lubricate bearing cups (14) and (15) with clean oil.

Use a suitable press to install bearing cone (12) onto pinion shaft (10). If the temperature of bearing cone (12) was raised, then allow the temperature of bearing cone (12) to lower to room temperature. Then, make sure that bearing cone (12) is fully seated. Lubricate bearing cone (12) with clean oil.

Assemble pinion shaft (10) into pinion housing (11). Install bearing cone (13) onto pinion shaft (10). Allow some end play to exist. Allow bearing cone (13) to cool to room temperature if the temperature of bearing cone (13) was raised for installation. Lubricate bearing cone (13) with clean oil.

Set the rolling torque of the pinion. Secure pinion housing (11) in a holding fixture. Install retainer (6) and bolts (8). Do not install the lip seal currently. Install spacer (9), yoke (1), shims (3), retainer, (4) and bolt (5). Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft).

Remove the yoke assembly. Lubricate the sealing lip of seal (7) with clean oil. Install seal (7) into retainer (6). Apply Tooling (A) to retainer (6). Install retainer (6) and bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 28 7 N m (20 5 lb ft).

Install yoke (1). Install O-ring seal (2), shims, (3) and retainer (4). Install bolt (5). Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft).End By:
