Troubleshooting
PROBLEM 1: Front or rear system does not vibrate. PROBABLE CAUSE:This problem may be caused by an electrical failure, such as a blown fuse or damaged wiring. Otherwise, the problem may be in the hydraulics. The pump or motor may have failed, or there could be a lack of hydraulic oil in the tank.1. Check the fuse on the instrument panel. Check electrical wiring to vibratory switches and solenoid valves. Repair or replace damaged wiring or components.2. Check the level of oil in the hydraulic tank. Add oil if it is low. Check the lines, hoses, connections, and components for leaks.3. Check for damage to vibratory motor.4. Check for damage to vibratory pump.5. Check the operation of relief valve and check valves in vibratory control valves. Replace if necessary.6. Check the relief cartridges in the cross-over relief valves. Adjust or replace cartridges if opening pressure is too low or if they are stuck open.7. Check the lock-out switch, located by the propel lever on the right side of the machine. Replace if damaged.8. Check splined coupling and drive shaft inside drum. If broken, vibratory motor can rotate without turning the eccentric weight shaft.9. Check weight bearings inside drum. If bearings are damaged, they can prevent the eccentric weight shaft from turning.10. Check charge pressure coming from the propel system. If charge pressure is too low, vibratory control valves will not operate. PROBLEM 2: System does not reach full vpm. PROBABLE CAUSE:Low vpm's may be caused by a problem with the weight bearings, or by worn or damaged components reducing oil flow through the system.1. Check the level of oil in the hydraulic tank. If the level of the oil is below the return line, air can get into the oil.2. Check the operation of relief valve and check valves in vibratory control valves. Replace if necessary.3. Check the relief valve cartridges in the cross-over relief valves. Adjust or replace cartridges if opening pressure is too low or if they are stuck open.4. Check vibratory motor for excessive wear.5. Check vibratory pump for damage or excessive wear.6. Check weight bearings inside drum for binding. PROBLEM 3: The oil in the system gets too hot. PROBABLE CAUSE:The common causes of heat in a hydraulic system are: low oil level in the tank, a pressure setting on a relief valve that is too low, a restriction in a line that causes an orifice effect, or excessive mechanical friction.1. Check the level of oil in the hydraulic tank. Add oil if it is low. Check the lines, hoses, connections, and components for leaks.2. Check the operation of the relief and check valves in the control valve. If either one is stuck open or malfunctioning, high oil temperature will result.3. Check the relief valve cartridges in the cross-over relief valves. Adjust or replace cartridges if opening pressure is too low or if they are stuck open.4. Check the system for a restriction in an oil line. A restriction in the pump supply line
