Illustration 1 g00285686Inspect the top of the cylinder block for cracks and warpage. Refer to the Specifications Module, "Cylinder Block" topic for the tolerances.Inspect each cylinder bore. There should be no scoring, rust or corrosion. Use a 1P-3537 Dial Bore Gauge Group in order to measure each cylinder bore. Each cylinder bore should be measured at the top, middle and bottom. Refer to Special Instruction, GMG00981 for the instructions that are needed to use the dial bore gauge.If the cylinder bores are out of the service limit, the cylinder block must be bored oversize. Refer to the Specifications Module, "Cylinder Block" topic for the tolerances.
