TUBE AS 3534558 - Caterpillar

Start By:
Remove the ripper tilt cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Tilt Cylinder - Remove and Install".
Remove the ripper carriage. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Carriage - Remove and Install".
Remove the ripper lift cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Lift Cylinder - Remove and Install".
Remove the rear guard and the rear bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove".
Illustration 1 g01095639Note: Tooling (B) will be in position from removal of the ripper tilt cylinder.
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to ripper frame (1). The weight of ripper frame (1) is approximately 1589 kg (3500 lb).

Disconnect hose assembly (4) from pin assembly (3).
Remove bolts (2), plate (5), and pin assembly (3).
Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for the opposite side of the machine.

Remove lip seals (6).
Use Tooling (C) to remove bearings (7). Repeat Step 5 and Step 6 for the other side of the ripper frame.

Remove lip seals (9). Use Tooling (C) to remove bearing (8). Repeat Step 7 for the opposite side of the machine. Installation Procedure

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to position ripper frame (1) on the machine. The weight of ripper frame (1) is approximately 1589 kg (3500 lb).
Support ripper frame (1) with Tooling (B).

Lower the temperature of bearing (8). Install bearing (8). Use Tooling (D) to install lip seals (9). Repeat Step 3 for the other side of the ripper frame.

Lower the temperature of bearings (7). Install bearings (7). Use Tooling (D) to install lip seals (6). Repeat Step 4 for the opposite side of the ripper frame.

Install pin assembly (3), plate (5), and bolts (2).
Connect hose assembly (4) to pin assembly (3).
Repeat Step 5 and Step 6 for the other side of the ripper frame.
Remove Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device. End By:
Install the rear guard and the rear bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Install".
Install the ripper lift cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Lift Cylinder - Remove and Install".
Install the ripper carriage. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Carriage - Remove and Install".
Install ripper tilt cylinder. Refer to disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Tilt Cylinder - Remove and Install".
